Summary

SOC 2 is an auditing framework from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

SOC reports are the result of an independent audit, and are generally only made available upon request.

A SOC 2 Type I report describes an organisation's systems, and whether the design of specified controls meet the relevant principles. A SOC 2 Type II report is based on the effectiveness of the controls over a period of time.

For more on SOC, see the AICPA website.
